A Look at Loggerhead Distillery's Award-Winning Labels
We recently visited Loggerhead Distillery in Sanford, Florida. This bold, local brand is making waves by infusing its passion for Florida's natural beauty into the craft of distillation. Founder Colby Theisen welcomed us to the facility, shared his story, and showed us how labels contribute to its mission.

What inspired you to start Loggerhead Distillery?
"Loggerhead started in 2019. My business partner and I grew up in Florida here. When you can be at the water on either coast here in an hour, basically growing up, boating, fishing, and surfing, you see the Loggerhead sea turtles in the water."
"That's why we named it Loggerhead Distillery. Other than Alaska, Florida has the most coastline of any state in the United States and has the highest concentration of nesting grounds for the Loggerhead sea turtles. So it just kind of meant Florida to us, and we wanted to put a little of Florida into our products."
Tell us About the "Spirit of the Ocean" Initiative
"We donate a dollar from every bottle purchase to what we call the Spirit of the Ocean. That is a collection of three different donation recipients. One is UCF, one is the Marine Science Center at Ponce Inlet, and one is the Brevard Zoo for all of their sea turtle hospitals, their coastal science schools, ocean clean up, and that sort of thing: coastal conservation."
Why did you choose to partner with Consolidated Label?
"Well, initially, of course, you look around for your vendors and compare pricing, quality. We settled on Consolidated Label very early, though. We didn't use another vendor. Consolidated Label was the first vendor that we used. It was important to be able to go down, meet the people, say hello, and have them show us samples."
What makes your label designs stand out?
"The packaging now has kind of watercolors of Florida scenery. And if you turn the label on the side, many of them have Florida animals in particular. So we have the sea turtle. We have the Florida panther. We have a black-tip shark on one. Scenes of orange groves and things like that are on our packaging."
What kind of feedback do you get from customers about your labels?
&quout;They love it. We've gotten a gold medal on the packaging design for the Key Lime Gin... We get a lot of people from out of the state coming in and out of Sanford, and a lot of them will stop in.&quout;
"And I think that it shows them something other than Disney World about Florida. So we're happy that they can see pictures of orange groves, turtles, panthers, and the Florida black bear."
Would you recommend Consolidated Label to other businesses?
"I absolutely would. Consolidated Label is a big player in the label industry. So the quality is going to be there."
