On International Women’s Month, we had the privilege of interviewing four inspiring female business owners. These four entrepreneurs created their ventures and built their success through hard work and dedication.

Each one of them embodies the essence of resilience, innovation and unwavering determination, serving as inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs. Join us as we delve into their journeys, uncovering the challenges they’ve overcome, the lessons they’ve learned, and their valuable insights for label creation and entrepreneurship.

Nava & Snow, Tasha Rose, Dalki Designs and Wandering Pines Cottage are the businesses that we chose to showcase in March. All of these business owners shared different points of view, from labels customized for skin and healthcare to crafting innovative designs. Here are some of the takeaways we learned from speaking with them.

Identifying Your Area of Expertise

Before diving into any project, it’s crucial to identify what you’re passionate about and where your expertise lies. In the case of these four businesses, they chose paths that not only interested them, but also matched their lifestyles.

Wandering Pines Cottage is a perfect example of this. Owner Suzy started her business with the purpose of creating what was in her mind and making her ideas come to life. “I come from a long line of creative people so my business is a great way to carry on that creativeness.” She also explains how her business has evolved over time. She started with wax melts, and through time she continued growing her business to home fragrances and bath and body products. Recently, she's added candles to the mix, diversifying her line for her customers.

Throughout her journey, Suzy explains how it’s important to have an idea in mind of what one wants. In this case, her main motivation was to start a candle business. She knew wherever she started, she eventually wanted to make and sell candles. Identifying one's passions and areas of expertise is important to build the business.

Define the Style of Your Brand

A well-defined brand helps articulate what the business is, what it stands for, and what sets them apart from competition. When the audience understands the brand and its values, they are more likely to feel confident in the products or services. Dalki Designs by Amanda Phillips creates emotional connections with its clients and products. Amanda started her business with the idea of crafting personalized digital illustrations and small prints of different topics including her travels, animals, and her own daily life. “Inspiration is a beautiful mishmash of furry friends and animals, experience from my travels, the artistry of my favorite online creators, and the creativity of my own kids. Their fresh perspectives and playful ideas infuse an extra dose of magic into my work, making each piece a delightful blend of imagination and heartfelt artistry.”

Throughout her business journey, she also did a lot of experimenting to find her brand identity. She worked with boho-chic styles, calming neutrals, and lively bursts of colors and started designing places and memories. Finding the style of your brand requires playing with the canvas in front of you. This will help connect with the client and their specific aesthetic or unique vision can be the inspiration to craft new ideas.

Choose the Right Materials to Show Your Labels

Labels are normally the first point of contact between a customer and a product. The quality and appearance of a label can significantly impact how the brand is perceived in any business. Choosing high-quality label materials that align with your brand image can showcase professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail, helping to establish a positive impression among customers. The four businesses used different types of materials according to the respective product they wanted to showcase. In particular Tasha Rose, an organic herbal supplement business run by Tasha, picks very specific label materials for her special use case. Because her products are exposed to certain temperatures and environments like refrigerators, she uses white weatherproof matte labels. “We love the white weatherproof matte labels so nothing ever smudges.”

Tasha's company built her company to provide organic herbal supplements for kids and adults. For this reason, the durability of the labels are an important aspect in her business, mainting a polished appearance that reflects the company's commitment to quality. By prioritizing the selection of label materials tailored to our unique needs, not only enhances the physical presentation our the products, but also conveys a sense of trustworthiness and expertise, just like in Tasha Rose's products.

Marketing and Audience Engagement

Personalizing a company’s brand can help to connect with different audience segments. Nava & Snow by Stephanie Nieves, uses this strategy effectively. This business gets inspired from hand-drawn advertisements, and mixes it with its own heritage and interests. “Most ideas just come from things I like, from lifestyle to local places. If you love something, chances are your customers will too, and the feedback I get often leads to new products!”

This type of strategy works particularly well with social media strategy since it enhance the presence and engagement on social media platforms. By infusing her brand with personal touches, experiences, and inspiration from daily design, she creates content that feels authentic and relatable to her audience. Addiitonally, the unique blend of hand-drawn aesthetics, heritage, Nava $ Snow's content also encourages organic sharing, and engagement among followers. Furthermore, the brand's practice of incorporating different markets they've been, interviews they had, and behind the scene material fosters a sense of hardwork, turning the social media channels into dynamic platforms for the audience to see how the products get the inspiration from.
