Question 1

I have used waterproof labels on my laser printer, to only find out that with repeated in and out of pocket lip balms - the laser text rubbed off!  I don't want white if I use a clear tube. Inkjet didn't print clearly. What would be the best material, or am I better off having them pre-printed?

It sounds like the print is rubbing off due to poor toner fusion. Adjusting the media or paper type setting within your printer options to something like Labels, Cardstock, or Transparency should result in improved print quality and help fuse the toner into the material. Just make sure you are using laser compatible material like our Weatherproof Polyester for Laser (LP).

To resolve print quality issues using an inkjet printer, make sure that you are using inkjet material and adjust the media/paper type setting to a Photo or Glossy option.

Question 2

What is the actual dimension of the label not including the tab? I want to make sure these are the right size for my needs before ordering them.  I thought I was ordering the correct labels last week (OL2162WG) since the dimensions were the same as OL421WG. Unfortunately they were not and now I have to pay shipping (3x what I was charged) to send them back.

I apologize for the confusion. The OL2162 is for slim line lip balm tubes whereas the OL421 is recommended for standard size lip balm tubes that are 0.15 oz. The dimensions of the OL1102 without the tab are 1.8125" in height and 2.125" in width which is commonly used on 0.15 oz lip balm tubes.

Question 3

Does this smudge easily when it comes into contact with oils or moisture/water? I would prefer a clear label over the weatherproof one simply Bc I don't want a white background for my labels but if the clear matte ink jet smudges or runs then I'd rather have the weatherproof one. Thanks!

The Clear Matte for Inkjet is not resistant to water or oils but some customers have used Krylon's Preserve It! for added protection. However, I would recommend samples for testing this overcoat spray on the Clear Matte for Inkjet. Although we do not offer any materials that are specifically oil resistant, our Clear Gloss and Clear Matte for Laser are very durable, moisture resistant, and have been successfully used by customers with oil-based products.

Is the paper material thick/cardstock? Can this material be used in a regular printer, or is a special printer needed?

The Standard White Matte (WX) is thicker than regular paper, but not comparable to cardstock. It can be used in regular printers but may require that the paper type setting be adjusted if you experience any print quality or feeding issues. Using a thicker, heavier setting like  "photo" or "labels" should resolve any potential issues.

What is the thickness of this label? Would i need a special printer or could i use use a regular laser/inkjet printer?

Question 9

If I am wanting just the font to show up on the label and I am designing in Canva, do I just leave the background of the label white even if the writing I want to use is white? How do I make sure there will be no background and just the white font on the sticker. Thank you.

Since most printers are not capable of printing in white, any white in your design will be left blank/unprinted. With that in mind, you'll want to make sure your text has a black or color value, other than white, so it will be visible.

When printing on clear materials, even the printed area will have some transparency. You'll want to make sure that there is contrast between the print and the surface the label is applied to for visibility.

Is the brown kraft paper compostable?
