Can these be used for name tags?  Are they easily removable from clothing?

Question 2

To use at a low-lit event for easier to read name badges. Is the flourescent light catching/reflective  or does it actually glow in the dark? Will a black sharpie write over this sticker with no bleed through the back?  how long will these usually stick to clothing fabric before curling on the edges and falling off?

Accepted Answer

The Fluorescent Yellow labels are an uncoated paper-based material, so there is no additional reflective coating on the labels nor do they glow in the dark. However, the Fluorescent labels can considered easier to see in dim lighting than our other colored materials due to their bright color.

You are able to write on these labels with permanent markers, pencils (traditional and mechanical), highlighters, markers, crayons, colored pencils, and pens (ballpoint and felt-tip). Sharpie markers shouldn't bleed through the label, however there is no blockout properties to the Fluorescent labels so text or other imagery could be seen from underneath the label.

The labels can be adhered to a variety of surfaces including some fabrics. We recommend for you to try samples and test with your application.

Are these blockout labels smear-proof or waterproof?

The Blockout for Laser (BT) is a paper-based material and not coated to withstand moisture. However, the print should not smudge or flake off with regular, dry contact. If you do experience any print quality issues, try adjusting the printer's paper type to a "labels" or "cardstock" option.

Question 5

If the label gets wet or the product needs to stay refrigerated, will the ink smear or come off?  I will use these for hot sauces and marinades.

The White Gloss Laser (WS) is a paper-based material so it wouldn't be recommended for any applications that will expose the label to moisture. Instead, we'd suggest choosing from one of our weatherproof options at the link below. Our Weatherproof Polyester Laser (LP) is a popular choice when using a laser printer.

Question 6

Having issues printing from laser MFP on OL600WR labels, getting streaks.  Any suggestions?

Most print quality issues can be resolved by adjusting the paper type setting within your printer options to something like Labels, Cardstock, or Transparency. You may want to also try running a cleaning cycle as well as clean the rollers before printing any additional sheets.

We do offer this size in custom configurations that include spacing between labels. Below are two product links for 4" x 2.5" labels. Both products include vertical and horizontal spacing. Please note, however, that the margins are very narrow for both configurations, which may prevent you from printing to the edge of the labels, depending on your printer's printable area.

Question 9

Can we use a  medium to thick sharpie type permanent marker on these labels?  Will it rub off or stay put?  Does that depend on the material?  Like matte versus shiny?

Question 10

Can these, and your other colored labels, work as nametags for day-long events? Will they stick to, and be removable from cotton, nylon, rayon, or other standard shirt/blouse material?

Our True Yellow (TY) and other colored materials feature a permanent adhesive that works well on most surfaces. Since fabric is a textured surface, you may find that a stronger adhesive is needed.
